GEIR Position on the Revision of the Waste Framework Directive

The latest GEIR position paper on the revision of the Waste Framework Directive provides recommendations to strengthen the waste hierarchy while increasing circularity in waste oils. It proposes key measures to enhance waste oils' circularity by:

• Establishing high, mandatory EU-wide collection and regeneration targets.
• Restricting or banning waste oils for energy recovery and recycling operations that have negative environmental performance and yield a different product than re-refined base oils
